This has been a day of disturbing news.
One of my favorite actors, Tony Randall, passed away today. I met him once in New York, outside the stage door after his performance in Inherit the Wind. He took the time to shake my hand and give me an autograph. A sweet, sweet, very talented man who will be truly missed.
Second, 97.1 The Eagle, the hard rock station for as long as I can remember, is no more. On Tuesday it became Sunny 97.1 - another oldies station. No more Mandatory Metallica at night! I wonder if another station will take that over?
Speaking of taking over, have you noticed how Clear Channel likes to take over a station and replace its format with one similar to a competing station that's just down the dial? I see a monopoly of Metroplex radio coming.
