whee!
It was priceless to get away this weekend. For the last few weeks I've been stretched precariously close to my limit. A meandering drive down the road less traveled (state hwy 281 in leiu of I35) proved to be a great remedy. Gorgeous bluebonnets. Cows, sheep, goats, ranch houses with tin roofs, windmills, white puffy clouds, blue skies, and trees with freshly sprouted leaves soothed my soul.
Our hotel was incredible. It was worth the extra cost to just walk outside to the Riverwalk whenever we felt like it.
And a meal at the famous Mi Tierra (open 24 hours!) was the perfect starting point for the weekend.
This weekend we ate, we bummed around, we walked - a lot - and we had plenty of time to just talk and reconnect. Sometimes when we're incredibly busy we can lose touch with what's rattling around in each other's brains. I think this trip reminded us that we often need a change in scenery to help us jumpstart our thoughts.
I enjoyed seeing the missions. Not only are they exciting to see, but there isn't an admission fee. :) If you need a cheap weekend getaway, I definitely recommend San Antonio.
For Easter, we woke up and prayed together. Kevin read from his Bible, and later I read some Easter prayers from a book that I have. And we called family as we made our way to brunch at the Kendall Inn in Boerne. Very low key. It's not something we'll do every Easter. But every once in a while I think it would be refreshing.
Overall, it was an amazing trip. I love San Antonio, and I believe we'll return there many times throughout our marriage.
