Apparently the voice actors for The Simpsons are fighting for better contracts. (article) And who can blame them? They've been performing the same roles for years, which can get really boring. (Especially since they're only doing voice-overs.) Plus, The Simpsons is a much bigger empire than Somebody Loves That Raymond Guy. There's money to be had. And the actors really have some weight to pull - it's not as if they can be replaced.
