a day off

I went to the optometrist yesterday in Richardson. I had to have my eyes dilated. The drops weren't wearing off quickly enough, so I couldn't drive back to Fort Worth, much less see well enough to work on the computer. So my mom came and drove me around. We went shopping in Plano and laughed at some of the dumb fashions that are out this summer.

Hello 80s! Who knew that buckles on shirts would be in again? And I can't wait to try to find shorts that don't make me look like a dancer on a Sir-Mix-a-Lot video. Or shirts that aren't see-through, or that don't have some double-entendre slogan on them. My mom said it best - we were looking for the Juniors department, and as we were entering it we walked by a rack full of lacy, teeny tank tops. My mom said quite seriously, "Oh, wait, this isn't it, this is the lingerie department."

Anyway, I got home safely in the evening, and then went to hear Desmond Tutu speak at UTA. Kevin's already written about that, so I'll let you read about it on his blog.
