Today a scene from Billy Madison comes to mind, the one in which Billy advises the portly young boy with a speech impediment...
3rd Grader: How's high school?
Billy Madison: High school is awesome. I'm learning new things and the teachers are very nice. It's great.
3rd Grader: Gee, I can't wait till I get into high school.
Billy Madison: (squeezing and shaking the poor little guy's face) Don't you say that. Don't you ever say that. Stay here. Stay here as long as you can. For the love of God, cherish it. You have to cherish it.
We're in the middle of buying a home. So I'm thinking of all those times when I was little and couldn't wait to be a grownup, and always swore that when I grew up I wouldn't be cranky. Now I can see that mortage payments are probably the #1 cause of crankiness among grownups.
So if you could say a prayer or two for us we'd appreciate it. We've narrowed our lender search down and we're meeting with two people tomorrow.
