Double Wow
Today SpaceShipOne claimed the X Prize.
I wasn't alive in 1969 to see the first moon landing, nor was I around for the last landing in 1972. So to me, a private citizen rocketing into space is a big deal. And that's an understatement.
Born in 1979, I've grown up in an era in which moon landings were in the past, and only government-funded science missions seemed to be our future. But now there's a chance that I, too, can experience the beauty of space, even if it's just for a few minutes. It's a small chance, but at least the possibility is there. And that's exciting.
